How To
If you have no experience with shared folders on Mac OS X, follow this step by step guide.
For Mac OS 10.5 or higher:
Basically, any Mac folder can be transformed into a shared folder, but in order to be accessible by PhotoToMac, guest users must have read & write access.
Before configuring a shared folder make sure that guest users can connect to a shared folder.
Open System Preferences and select Accounts. Make sure that for “Guest account” the setting “Allow guests to connect to shared folders” is enabled.
If you’re familiar with Mac OS X file permissions and shared folders, this information is probably sufficient. If you’re not, follow the instructions below carefully.
Open a new Finder window and click in the left pane - under Devices - on your system hard drive. You should see a window similar to this one

Open the “Users” folder. This folder contains the home folder for each user defined on your Mac plus an extra folder called “Shared”. It might be confusing, but this folder named “Shared” is not the same as a Mac shared folder.
In the folder named “Shared” create a subfolder with whatever name you want, e.g. “Captured Photos”. In the next steps, you will turn this “Captured Photos” folder into a Mac shared folder.
Now go to Sharing in System Preferences. This will bring up a screen similar to this one

Enable File Sharing (the lock at the bottom left must be open) and click on the + sign under the Shared Folders column. Browse to the “Captured Photos” folder and click Add.
Now the Sharing window should look like this

By default, user Everyone gets Read Only permissions on the folder. Change this to Read & Write, because PhotoToMac needs to write the photos into the shared folder.
Close System Preferences, your shared folder is now accessible by PhotoToMac.
You only need to configure the shared folder once.
Additional remark: Make sure that the shared folder is not located somewhere in another shared folder, because your Mac will only expose the top level shared folder.
For Mac OS 10.4:
Tiger uses a simplified sharing system that gives guest access to your account’s Public folder only.
Go to Sharing in System Preferences and enable Personal File Sharing. Your Public folder - and only your Public folder - can now be used by PhotoToMac to transfer photos to.
In order to make your Public folder accessible by PhotoToMac, give everyone/others Read & Write permission in the Finder Info window of the Public Folder. Also check that everyone/others have at least Read access on your Home folder (= parent folder of the Public folder).
If these settings and permissions are all set correctly, PhotoToMac can transfer Camera Roll photos to your Public folder.
